Ski & Ski Touring

29 tours, 164 km and 34,734 vertical meters can be mastered here from beginners to advanced tourers. The ski touring areas Ankogel, Häusleralm, Tauerntal and Dösental are considered to be guaranteed snow and offer first-class powder snow. In spring, the region is known for the perfect firn conditions. The tour to the Häusleralm can be started directly from our camping area. This is the perfect beginner's tour whose ascent and descent leads along former ski slopes and through wooded terrain. This route is therefore largely classified as avalanche-proof. The ski touring area on the Ankogel is also suitable for beginners and those switching from alpine skiing. With the Ankogelbahn you can easily reach alpine heights and from there complete high alpine tours to the Radeckscharte or to the small or large Ankogel. Widely known is also the Tauerntal with the Romatenspitze, or the Hagener Hütte and the Geiselkopf. Here you can experience tours in all levels of difficulty, but these should only be completed by alpine experienced ski mountaineers. In the Dösental there are even less well-known tours that lead you to the Arthur-von-Schmidhaus on the Maresen or on the Säuleck. As always, alpine know-how is also required here. For beginners, a consultation with a mountain guide is advisable in any case or maybe consider taking part in one of the guided tours.

The slopes of the Ankogel invite you to experience fantastic descents. The sunny southern slope is a popular destination for free riders, and many have already learned to ski at the Köfelelift. The Mölltal Glacier is just around the corner and, with 330 operating days, is Carinthia's only glacier ski area. For the little ones we have a brand-new slope with magic carpet in the middle of the camping area and by train the ski area in the Gastein Valley can be reached in a few minutes, with the Stubnerbahn located directly at the Badgastein railway station.

Ski areas in your vicinity:

  • Ankogelbahn (4.5 km) direct ski bus to the valley station

  • Mölltaler Glacier (23 km) direct ski bus to the valley station

  • Gasteiner Cable Car - Stubnerkogel (with ski bus and train to Badgastein)

HOCHoben tip: Since our campsite can also be used in winter, we make it as pleasant as possible for you. In our main building there is a well-functioning drying room for wet laundry as well as ski and cross-country boots.

The traditional alpine ski mountain Ankogel has developed into a trendy freeride insider tip, and this is no wonder, given the deep snowy slopes sparkling in the sun high above the "pearl of the national park", the mountaineering village of Mallnitz. Carinthia's longest, snowiest descent with extra-wide powder slopes, a varied freeride area and new, enchanting programs know how to inspire here, in the midst of the great nature of the national park.

With the Gletscherexpress and the Eisseebahn you can easily go up to the panorama restaurant Eissee, in the middle of Carinthia's only glacier ski area. Whether you fancy food and drink on the magnificent sun terrace or going up with the chairlift to the summit (3,122 m): The Mölltal Glacier is always a holiday highlight! HOCHoben tip: Summer skiing on the Mölltal Glacier. 3 slopes are – depending on snow and weather conditions – open for skiing!
